Mission Committee:
This committee is in charge of keeping our membership connected with the beehive’s (totally awesome) mission of pollinating community giving in Raleigh and inspiring leadership. This committee helps the membership choose each year’s giving theme by researching and proposing options at the first membership meeting of the year. It then coordinates a variety of social, educational, and volunteer events throughout the year designed to help the members get better connected to each other, and get more informed about and involved with local issues that we care about most. Want a great excuse to learn more about Raleigh’s most pressing issues and what’s being done to solve them? Like getting other people informed and involved in important stuff? Want your volunteering and activism to be fun and social, and your fun and socializing to have volunteering and activism? If you said yes to any of those questions, then this is the committee for you!
Chair: Gweneth Hastings Pound and Adam Daland
Grants Committee:
This committee is in charge of developing our general values and specific criteria for grant-making. That includes designing a grant-making process and then soliciting proposals from local organizations and groups. The Grants Committee will collect all grant proposals and compile them to put out to the Beehive membership for a vote. In short: administer and give away money! If you like money, non-profits, and reading, this might be the committee for you.
Chair: Jennifer Woody
Fundraising Committee:
Unlike the other committees, which are more permanent in nature, the Events Committee is open to folks who want to think big about what type of events the beehive collective should have to raise money and people who just want to coordinate a specific event along the way. You can get involved on an ad hoc basis or stay involved throughout. This committee is really the FUN committee-it coordinates the parties and brings in the bacon. If you like event coordination, have cool connections in the area, and/or are creative, this could be your committee.
