Our 2017 small grant of $5,000 has been awarded to Activate Good. The award will go toward the Teen Leadership and Service Program, a week-long summer day camp designed to empower young volunteers.

This program will engage 60–75 teens in energetic and intensive week-long programs where they will work to develop solutions to issues like food insecurity, the environment, or poverty. Teens will hear from community leaders, plan and measure the impact of a service project, practice leadership skills, and share findings with local leaders during a showcase event. Teens will have opportunities to continue leadership and service after the summer program, including volunteering with nonprofit partners or joining an internship or teen advisory board program.

Beehive funds will be used to provide 10 scholarships to low-income girls for the Summer Teen Leadership and Service Program. These scholarships will be awarded to students who might otherwise be unable to access this type of opportunity.
