CATHOLIC CHARITIES
In 2010, the Beehive Collective made two grants totaling more than $25,000 to the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and Catholic Charities. Catholic Charities runs the largest food pantry in Wake County.
Catholic Charities used their funding to help hire an additional staff member for their food pantry, which provides seven to 10 days of groceries to those in need. The part-time warehouse manager would oversee volunteers, training, food storage and distribution.
Request for Proposal Theme: Food access, education and sustainability. Food is an important and timely theme as it touches on many other issues: the environment, health, economics, and social justice to name a few. The 2010 grant cycle explored what we can do as individuals and as a community to increase the safety, sustainability, and social equity of our food systems in Raleigh.
