NC HARM REDUCTION COALITIOn
One of our 2012 small grants of $1,500 was awarded to North Carolina Harm Reduction Coalition, a nonprofit focused on reducing the incidences of HIV, STIs, and hepatitis by educating at-risk populations.
Funding helped establish the Raleigh Sex Worker Bad Date Line, which provides an anonymous way for workers to report crimes to the police. The line records assault information from sex workers and sends it to law enforcement, maintaining the anonymity of sex workers. The money also set up a Facebook page, Twitter feed, website, and a Vimeo page that discusses violence prevention.
